Commemoration for Benazir Bhutto in Berlin

Pak-German Council for Culture and Democracy, Pakistani Community and PPP Berlin organised a commemoration for Mrs. Benazir Bhutto on 29.12.2007 in Berlin. It took place near the German Parliament at Pariser Platz in front of Brandenburger Gate. Two members of German Parliament, Mr. Josef Winkler and Mrs. Cornelia Behm, attended the mourning. Mr. Josef Winkler especially came from Koblenz to Berlin to attend the session. Many pictures, candles and flags of PPP were displayed. A resolution was signed to condemn the brutal and coward act of assassinating Mrs. Benazir Bhutto. Many German and Pakistanis could write their comments in the condolence book.

Mr. Josef Winkler member of German Parliament, said: “I came here to mourn together with you the great daughter of Pakistan, a brave leader and legend politician. My condolences go to the family of Benazir Bhutto and to whole Pakistani nation”.

Shahid Riaz Gondal, President of Pak German Council for Culture and Democracy, said: “Benazir Bhutto was a symbol of democracy and it is an attack on democracy, freedom, Human Rights, stability and future of Pakistan. Benazir will live forever in the hearts and minds of Pakistani people”. Mrs. Birgit Montiero, member of Berliner Parliament, said: “Pak-German friendship will deepen more, I am here to show German support for democracy in Pakistan”. Activist from Pakistan Peoples Party Mr. Tariq Mehmood demanded an independent inquiry by international investigation team. Procession ended with prayers for Mrs. Benzir Bhutto.
